Short report on public transportation from another European capital, Madrid: underground runs 24/7 and the busses as well. Safe, practical, cheap and actually fun, as people talk; a lot and loudly!

Terrific piece, Klas!! I would only add that, good as the news seems to be, I'm terrified of the potential power of the Electoral College!

And having just spent a week in LA, the traffic seems to have completely overwhelmed the freeways. Everyone is stuck spending too much of their life in their car!!

Thank you, Cathy! Yes, the freeways are worse than ever and that fact dictates our movements and hampers human connections. Electoral College? It's undemocratic and it's really time to abolish it. But how?

With a sense of community comes a sense of personal responsibility and when that is fractured we become tribal. At least that’s how it seems to me. So I hope, for the coming election there are more people who see Kamala as a return to that sense of community we all need to thrive.
