The prominent British historian, Timothy Garton Ash, writes today in his Substack newsletter, History of the Present, about the intense interest in Europe in the U.S. election campaign, now that Kamala Harris leads the Democratic Party’s fight against Donald Trump.
And, for pure delight, as he writes below, check out the You Tube video by the Marsh Family on “The King of Hypocrisy,” J.D. Vance, the Republican Party’s vice presidential candidate. It’s a lot of fun, yes, pure delight!
Ash:
“For pure delight, do watch this satirical song about Vance (‘King of hypocrisy’, ‘one Big Mac from the nuclear key’) by the British musical Marsh Family, rendered to the tune of Abba’s Dancing Queen. (Both parents studied history at Cambridge, and the father is an academic specialising in US history – which helps explain how sharp the lyrics are.)”
